Bay Street Bullies

As a season ticket holder for the past two decades, I can’t help but feel a bit jealous when I hear that the majority of the other Canadian-based NHL teams are going to start allowing some of their fans back in. Like so many others in this country, I grew up with the game in my blood and my blood in the game. But, I also have qualms about whether or not it is too soon to allow fans back in their seats.

I received my vaccine, and from the sounds of it, they’re leaning toward requiring fans to prove they’ve received their shots before entering stadiums. But with a virus we still don’t know enough about, I am torn. Supposedly, I would be safe if I were to return and so would all my counterparts. But, as the science changes daily as we learn more, I can’t help but wonder what an action like this might mean if the scientists are wrong again. After all, it’s getting harder and harder to listen to these ever-changing guidelines.

So, part of me want to be back in section 133, seats 21 and 22. The other part of me is reminding me that, as much as it would suck, I could go another several months without my beloved game. My hunch is that when I tune in to watch my beloved “Bay Street Bullies” playing in Montreal, Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, or Winnipeg, that I will change my tune and wish I was back at the rink.

Maybe I’ll just have to tune in when they play the Senators and just not watch any other games. Otherwise, FOMO will definitely get the best of me.
